For some weeks, while driving through a neighborhood near my work, I noticed large apples that were overhanging a trash can and the edge of the street. After only seeing the apples drop onto the pavement, the next time I was in the area I knocked on the owner's front door. I asked, "Hi, would it be ok if I picked some of your apples that are hanging over the street?" The man said, "Sure, go ahead, and there are a couple other trees up the driveway if you'd like some of those too."
I picked 5.75 pounds, a small bag full. And apple chutney was in order. Here was my recipe:
I have 3 pints canned and 3/4 pint in the fridge.
