The pear foraging so was successful that I set aside 10 pounds for bartering. A coworker traded me for some of her bright, plump garden tomatoes. She wanted to make pear honey, and I could certainly use more tomatoes, so another perfect swap.
I decided to can some crushed tomatoes as a future sauce, soup, or stew base and used the National Center for Home Food Preservation recipe. The color is fantastic. I have 5 pints.
