Today was a garden marathon. Eight hours of building trellises, planting, weeding, and evicting bunnies.
This is what is is going on in the garden:
On a walk this week I found a loaded yet unripe mulberry tree that I plan to go back to soon. And while kayaking last week I found additional mulberry trees and some grape vines. So I'm still hunting about and adding to my notes for things to forage.
My confidence level goes up and down with all this. Some days I think this whole challenge is very doable. Some days, like last week after going fishing twice with no luck, I think I could be out in the woods chewing on tree bark come February. But it's early, and I've tried to take advantage of everything that I can. It's just a matter of making the effort to seize opportunities and knowing that in time it will all add up. Overall I'm still very excited.

This is what is is going on in the garden:
- red norland potatoes (growing like crazy)
- kennebec potatoes (growing like crazy)
- black beans (two beds now since my entire edamame bed was a dud)
- anaheim peppers (just planted)
- roma tomatoes (just planted, this bed is covered with chicken wire because it was a popular bunny hideout)
- carrots (just planted)
- green onion (just planted, wasn't going to grow onions but found seeds so what the heck)
- chicory (have never grown it, but it's up and I hope to use it as a coffee substitute)
- butternut squash (majority came up, replanted for those that didn't)
- acorn squash (never came up, so I replanted today...otherwise more butternuts later)
- cucumber (just planted)
- red, gold, and black raspberries (all blooming)
- elderberries (growing and seem to be fine)
- basil, thyme, rosemary, mint (all doing great)
